The Center for Community Innovation is supporting efforts to build a more resilient community. We are supporting the development of local food systems, the localization of our economy, support for micro-entrepreneurs,  the establishment of an energy independent Raton, and the promotion of our region to individuals seeking a sustainable, rural community to call home.

Never doubt that a small, group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.

HOW WE ARE HELPING

The Center recognizes that an effective healthcare and wellness system is vital to our community. We are always at work to support our area providers and support the development of services for our area moms and their kids.  Here are ways we are working to support a healthy Raton:

  • The Center is partnering with Miners Colfax Medical Center to support the hospital in their efforts to train and recruit employees.  We are applying our skills with marketing and social media to reach out to potential employees, including outreach into other regions to attract new residents and families to Raton.  We are working with Santa Fe Community College to develop career pathways into healthcare and for advancing careers in healthcare.

  • We are a member of the Raton Early Childhood Coalition, partnering with the Department of Health to find better ways to connect with area moms and ensure that they and their kids are supported in effective ways.

  • We recognize that behavioral health is an urgent need for our region, particularly for addiction recovery.  We are looking for ways to establish a community greenhouse that can serve our community in multiple ways, including as an environment to foster healing
